In cooperation with EMVA, FRAMOS, the global leading supplier of imaging components, is hosting another training course on the EMVA 1288 standard, exploring numerous popular innovations in the latest release 4.0. The updated online training takes place May 3-5, 2022. As there is global interest for this training, we have scheduled it over three days from 16:00-21:00 CEST, 10:00AM – 3:00PM EST, 7:00AM – 12:00PM PST. The training is designed for engineers and camera developers who perform EMVA 1288 measurements to assess the quality and performance characteristics of image sensors and industrial cameras, specifically those with extended or multimodal spectral ranges. The online training course will be taught by Prof. Dr. Bernd Jähne, a member of the EMVA board, with many years of teaching experience.
Get to Know Release 4.0 in More Detail and Get Certified
Participants will acquire in-depth knowledge of the standard while focusing on extensions introduced in Release 4.0 that addresses nonlinear and HDR cameras as well as UV, SWIR, multispectral, and polarisation imaging and cameras with lenses. They will gain experience in performing EMVA 1288 measurements, utilizing the required measurement equipment, and evaluating their results against theoretic expectations. This process can then be used to evaluate the performance and compare any camera against others (measured curve analysis).
Upon completion of the course, participants have the opportunity to write the certification examination to be recognized as an EMVA 1288 Expert. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, participants will receive a certificate that highlights the successful completion of the specific camera performance measurements in accordance with EMVA 1288 with the correct interpret the results. The online training course will be conducted in English and is open to anyone who has a basic knowledge of camera sensors and the EMVA 1288 standard. Registration for this event is required in advance.
The Enhanced EMVA 1288 Standard
Together with the EMVA, FRAMOS has adapted the training to include the new features introduced as part of Release 4.0. EMVA 1288 is a worldwide standard for the objective characterisation of industrial cameras. Release 3.1 was limited to cameras and image sensors with a linear response curve that had no pre-processing applied to the data. The Release 4.0 considerably extends the range of image sensors and cameras that can be measured under the EMVA 1288 standard to coincide with the rapid progress being made in image sensor technologies.
About the Speaker
Prof. Dr. Bernd Jähne founded the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing (HCI) at Heidelberg University. He has been EMVA 1288 Chair since 2008, and a member of the EMVA board since 2015. He has authored several books, including a standard textbook on image processing that has been republished in several languages.
