Clean and ultra-clean rooms are primarily used in the semi-conductor industry in order to regulate and filter the dust particles found in normal air which would effect processing and the resulting quality and yield of integrated circuits. With a modernised clean room warehouse at its Munich headquarters, FRAMOS the camera sensor distributor and camera component specialist ensures that sensor customers can be supplied at a consistently high level of quality, especially where goods have to be repackaged.
Customers carrying out research and development and camera producers manufacturing during the prototype or series testing phase, generally only require small numbers of image sensors. In order to avoid being bound by the often very high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) of the major manufacturers, e.g. Sony or OnSemi, FRAMOS is able to offer its customers the exact number of repackaged deliveries, matched to the required order quantity, through its own warehouse storage. By limiting the dust particles in the storage warehouse according to DIN EN ISO 14644 Class 5, an even air purity of under 1,000 particles of 1 µm/m³ is achieved. The sensitive glass surfaces of the image sensors and the connection pins are protected against soiling with dust and potential later damage during the soldering process. The investment in the DIN-certified clean room warehouse is a further demonstration of FRAMOS’s investment in professional quality and process management.
Benedikt Schemmel, Quality Management Representative at FRAMOS, explains: “With the clean room warehouse, we can guarantee, particularly for sensors, which are normally supplied without a protective film, and all other articles, that the good will be delivered to the customer in top quality condition and can be used immediately. The FRAMOS warehouse is already working in accordance with ESD: ESD-compliant clothing, conductive shelves and floors and special packaging regulations for conductive packaging reduce electrostatic charging. Moisture and temperature control, as well as ionisation fans which draw charged dirt particles out of the air all ensure high quality ambient conditions. With the further reduction in dust particles and clean room certification, we can increase the quality of our delivered products and thus guarantee even better results for the regular customer and supplier audits.”
The FRAMOS warehouse in Munich is monitored and certified by, amongst others, the semi-conductor producer Sony.
