ON Semiconductor Stops Production of CCD Image Sensors

ON Semiconductor has announced to discontinue the production of CCD image sensors.

Last time buy date will be March 18, 2020.

In its public notification, ON Semiconductor says: “The ongoing market conversion from CCD to CMOS image sensors has been accelerated both by an industry slowdown that began in 2018 as well as availability of advanced CMOS image sensors such as ON Semiconductor’s line of XGS products. In light of these factors, ON Semiconductor has been monitoring the sales activity and viability of our CCD image sensor products. As a result of this analysis we regret to announce discontinuance of our CCD products as described.

All CCD Sensors (KAI, KAF, KAE, KLI, KAC) by ON Semiconductor are impacted by this end-of-life. The former Kodak CCD facility in Rochester, US, will then cease operations in June 2020.

The FRAMOS sensor experts are available to advise and support for any questions regarding last orders, replacement options and any sensor evaluations. The team will assist to secure existing projects before the Last Time Buy expires.
