Description

The Sony IMX991-AABA-C is a compact CMOS image sensor designed for applications requiring high sensitivity across a wide range of wavelengths, from visible to short-wave infrared (SWIR). With a diagonal size of 4.1 mm (Type 1/4) and a resolution of 0.33 megapixels (656 x 520), this sensor is ideal for precision imaging tasks such as product sorting, semiconductor inspection, and remote observation.

This sensor features a global shutter with variable charge-integration time, which ensures accurate, distortion-free capture of fast-moving objects. The global shutter capability makes the IMX991-AABA-C especially useful in high-speed industrial environments where precision is key. Supporting frame rates up to 240 frames per second (fps), it is designed for real-time, high-speed applications.

The IMX991-AABA-C has wide waveband sensitivity, ranging from 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm, enabling it to capture both visible and SWIR wavelengths. This makes it highly versatile for specialized tasks such as foreign material inspection, temperature estimation, and semiconductor inspection. The ability to operate across such a broad spectrum enhances its use in advanced industrial settings where both visible and infrared imaging are necessary.

One of the standout features of the IMX991-AABA-C is its built-in thermoelectric cooling (TEC), which helps to minimize dark current and noise. This cooling feature ensures consistent performance in various operating conditions, particularly in low-light environments, where maintaining image quality is critical.

  • 0.33 MP resolution with 656 x 520 pixel array
  • 5 x 5 µm pixel size for high sensitivity and detailed imaging
  • Global shutter for distortion-free capture of fast-moving objects
  • Wide waveband sensitivity (0.4 µm to 1.7 µm) for visible and SWIR imaging
  • High-speed capture up to 240 fps
  • Low dark current and noise with built-in thermoelectric cooling (TEC)

The IMX991-AABA-C is designed for a wide range of industrial applications, including:

  • Product sorting: Enhances the ability to detect defects or foreign materials in real-time production lines.
  • Foreign material inspection: Ensures high accuracy in detecting contaminants or anomalies in products.
  • Semiconductor inspection: Enables precise detection and monitoring of semiconductor components.
  • Temperature estimation: Offers non-contact temperature measurement in industrial environments.
  • Remote observation: Provides high-quality imagery for monitoring difficult-to-access areas or hazardous environments.

Housed in a durable PGA ceramic package, the Sony IMX991-AABA-C integrates the SLVS interface for efficient data transmission. With its versatility, high sensitivity, and cooling features, the IMX991 is an excellent choice for advanced imaging applications requiring precision, speed, and broad waveband coverage.
