Lenses

In tandem with the sensor, the lens is the key imaging element in any camera, as it defines the signal received by the image sensor. It is paramount to match up lens and sensor to get the best out of your image. Like the image sensor, the lens requirements are defined by the application and typically include the following key specs: 

Whether you need a ruggedized model with high resolution and low distortion for industrial applications; miniaturized lenses for automotive and other OEM applications; or a precision lens for accurate measurements and inspections; we have got you covered, even if it requires to customize a lens to meet your needs.

Our imaging experts can advise you on the right lens, whether it is choosing the right mount (C-mount, S-mount, M-12) or a specialized lens like tele-centric, wide angle, miniature, fixed focal length, or variable focal length lenses. Brands like Evetar, Daiwon, Sunex, Fujinon, Tamaron, Ricoh, CBC, and Kowa ensure you find the right lens to fit both your budget and application requirements.

Image Tuning

FRAMOS provides sensor- and lens-specific ISP tuning for the NVIDIA Jetson platform to optimize image quality (IQ) with a new state-of-the-art in-house lab. This facility allows FRAMOS to tune the image quality of all sensors across the entire Sensor Module Ecosystem to create the imagery that you need to be successful. Additionally, it provides an even higher level of imaging quality for a wide range of applications. The IQ Lab features industry standard measurement systems and the required toolchains for optimizing the image quality of a complete vision system. 

Raw image quality characterization assesses minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, a motion picture film scanner, or other image scanner. Raw files are not yet processed and not suitable for normal vision applications. Raw image files contain all sensor information, and thereby permit more control in post-processing. 

A processed image file is ready for implementation at the application and project system level and is suitable for further Image Quality (IQ) tuning. Processing converts the file for compatibility with ISP software. 

IQ Tuning 

Every sensor, lens, and light combination possesses unique characteristics that affects the ISP (image signal processor) configuration. This configuration needs to be calibrated and tuned for optimal image quality and to prevent unwanted effects in the image. FRAMOS takes a structured end-to-end approach to ensure that the complete system is coherently integrated. The image pre-processor found on board the NVIDIA Jetson plays a key role in overall image quality to achieve maximum performance. The ISP corrects and improves image quality while allowing the CPU and GPU to process other tasks more efficiently. 

Custom IQ Tests, Reports, and Tuning 

Multiple images are acquired from different scenes and processed to generate an optimal configuration for the custom hardware package. The FRAMOS development kits include basic NVIDIA Jetson ISP configuration files for a smooth start. In addition, FRAMOS offers full configurations for standard hardware, and custom calibrations and tuning for individual customer hardware on project basis. If needed, further tuning of each individual ISP parameter can be performed on a project basis according to subjective application requirements making your vision product unique in the market. We produce reports of our IQ tuning results for your future reference and assessment.
