Sony’s iToF Products – a Great Progress in 3D Vision

Direct ToF (dToF) involves a simple, direct measurement of the time until reflection is detected. 

Indirect ToF (iToF) measures distances by collecting reflected light and discerning the phase shift between emitted and reflected light.

iToF products such as IMX556 and the new IMX570 sensor are especially effective in high-speed, high-resolution 3D imaging of objects at short and long distances.

Sony’s IMX570 Features State-of-the-Art ToF Technology

Sony has released a back-illuminated, time-of-flight 3D image sensor for industrial machineries. The new IMX 570 is a type 1/4.5 VGA sensor with 5 µm pixels. Available in series from March 2021!

Applying Sony’s sensing and ranging technologies, the compact and high-resolution sensor acquires depth map which can cover both short and long distance.
